The appearance of cellulite is almost inevitable, so every woman tries to delay this moment as long as possible or to begin to deal with the problem at the first sign of its appearance. Today, there are many methods of dealing with orange peel, so it will not be so difficult to cope with the task. The main challenge is to be patient and practice specific movements for certain parts of the body: buttocks, thighs, abdomen, etc.
Anti-cellulite massage helps to reduce fat deposits in the subcutaneous tissue and smooth the skin surface. Its technique is close to the techniques of conventional European massage. But increased attention is paid to the deep tissues in order to activate circulation in the blood, lymph, and intercellular fluid.
- improvement of local blood circulation and lymph flow;
- acceleration of the decomposition of lactic acid;
- removal of toxins, toxins, and excess water from the subcutaneous tissue;
- accumulation of biologically active components that contribute to the destruction of connective tissue septa,
- normalization of cellular metabolism, and removal of excess fat from tissues;
- increasing the effectiveness of the anti-cellulite cosmetics used ;
- alignment of the skin.
Features of anti-cellulite massage
The massage therapist does not directly target fat cells. Rough pressure in an effort to “crush” fat cells only exacerbates the problem. Such actions lead to damage to capillaries, the appearance of hematomas, and an even more pronounced violation of microcirculation. As a result of improper actions, inflammation, and swelling of tissues increase, internal scars appear, and cells intensively accumulate fat.
The right massage to tackle this problem is local and targeted. Its task is to “warm-up” the tissues, normalize local blood circulation, lymph flow, and glandular function. You can carry out such actions in massage parlors, and with your own hands at home. Self-massage is especially important as a supportive course throughout the year and for the elimination of mild cellulite.
Massage types for removing cellulite
Anti-cellulite massage is carried out in two ways – manually or using special devices. Classic manual massage is the simplest and most effective way to fight cellulite. During the procedure, the specialist locally works out the problem areas using pinches, grips, stroking, and other techniques. It can control the strength of the impact on the patient’s body, thereby reducing the risk of bruising.
There are several techniques for removing cellulite
Lymphatic drainage: This procedure is often prescribed in the treatment of cellulite. The technique is considered the most popular and effective since it relieves swelling and normalizes lymph flow. After the procedure, the body quickly gets rid of toxins, excess water, and harmful substances. In addition, muscle spasms are relieved during the session.
Dry: In fact, these are rubbing, which is performed with a terry towel, brush, or special mitten. This type of massage is highly intense and is used to work out the sides and thighs. The use of this technique in the abdomen is contraindicated.
Honey: The unique technique combines a deep study of subcutaneous fat and a cosmetic effect. Honey saturated with useful substances quickly penetrates the skin, absorbs toxins, and enhances the effect of the procedure. Honey massage not only removes cellulite but also improves skin condition. It cleans quickly, becomes more elastic and smoother.
Classical manual massage: This type of massage brings good results in the fight against cellulite. But the effectiveness of the sessions is largely influenced by the qualifications of the massage therapist. With hardware massage, everything is different – the result depends only on the settings of the devices and the set program. However, this procedure cannot be performed on edematous tissues.
Are other types of massage effective
Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage, also called sports massage or remedial massage, works on deep fascia and muscles. The techniques used for deep tissue massage will affect tissues which are helpful to restore balance on the muscles.
Since deep tissue massage is a stronger type of massage technique, people usually think that it can help reducing cellulite better and faster than Swedish massage.
Although applying a lot of pressure on muscles, it does somewhat affect the hypodermis, it still is not specific enough to offer any good results with cellulite, so deep tissue massage is not an effective cellulite technique. These techniques are great for the muscles and overall lymphatic drainage and circulation, but not for cellulite.
Swedish massage
Swedish massage includes some techniques which are way too light to have any half-decent result on even decreasing cellulite.
Swedish massage is great when the aim is mental relaxation for some people, it’s great for circulation, somehow effective for relaxation of muscles, but generally pointless when it comes to cellulite.
Clearly, a much more vigorous, deeper, and specific treatment is needed.
Thai massage
Thai massage involves pointy pressures and stretching. These kinds of pressures are too “pointy” to affect the wide surface of the body that has cellulite, neither great to the hypodermis.
Thai massage is great for the muscles but absolutely ineffective for removing or decreasing cellulite. This type of massage may be helpful for muscular and mental relaxation, but not for removing cellulite.
How often can you get a massage for cellulite
As a means of fighting the “orange peel”, anti-cellulite massage is prescribed in courses. Depending on the stage of the disease, the specialist can prescribe from 8 to 15 sessions. This is usually enough to fight fatty knots and smooth uneven skin. If necessary, the course can be repeated after 6 months (you must first consult with your doctor).
In such cases, sessions are held daily or every 2-3 days. The optimal option for fighting cellulite is the procedure after 2 days.
Despite the discomfort during the procedure, some clients want to have the sessions 2 times a day. This is not necessary, since this frequency of the procedure will not speed up the smoothing of the skin, but the damage to blood vessels and skin is quite possible.
For preventive purposes, anti-cellulite massage sessions are carried out less frequently. To maintain the shape and stimulate the lymph flow, 1 procedure in 2-3 weeks is enough.
