Have, at times of late or after an intense workout session muscular pain creep up on you? I sure have. Or is it truly a call for help from Allah that your body is dying for? Until I discovered arnica in an essential oil, and holy mother — it was a game-changer. At first, I had no idea what it was but after a little bit of research and once I started testing out several different bundles on my own… to me uhh babe, that is more than an oil! In this light, if you are curious to know more of the wonders about Arnica essential oil for yourself and how it can prove advantageous when utilized in a massage setting, then exactly here is where we will be heading.
What is Arnica Essential Oil?
Arnica essential oil, which is extracted from the Arnica plant, was first grown in mountainous areas of Central Europe and Russia. These are actual matrices if you ever heard of Mountain Daisy. This tiny little flower is a powerhouse trendy flower. Arnica has been used in traditional medicine for hundreds of years, mainly because it is anti-inflammatory and helps the healing process. Distilled into an essential oil, it’s easy to add it effortlessly and powerfully to your day.
What Makes Arnica Essential Oil Special
So what makes arnica essential oil better than all the rest? I hit up my go-to krav maga teacher/buffest gentleman in the universe (my husband) explaining his gnarly bruised swollen leg from class or a workout with:
- Topically Reduces Pain and Swelling – Say you have a minor muscle injury, slight strain, etc., it has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce pain/swollenness at an area of trauma. It literally has to be some change gone magics because I swear my sweet potato bottle tastes different after Working out you guessed?
- Heals Much Faster – If you are one of those who just could not seem to get rid of their bruises for weeks, Arnica may be your best bet. It improves blood flow to the applied region, hence activating healing.
- Muscle Tension Relief – Occasionally, we all experience those sore muscles that are really painful isn’t it? A gift to relieve mild muscle strain, Arnica Essential Oil A little bit of oil can do wonders if you massage a few drops, particularly into these junctures, as they appear tough. Arthritis and arnica come in: Inflammation leads to joint pain, but for years people have used it as an anti-inflammatory agent which decreases inflammation (source). The oil acts as an anti-inflammatory… it decreases inflammation, which is what makes you feel pain & stiffness.
- Reduces Bruises – Arnica essential oil is one of the most effective natural remedies used to reduce bruises. For those of us who bruise easily — me, for example (raises hand) — we love that it makes the ugly things go away quicker.
Using Arnica Essential Oil in a Massage Treatment
Given the benefits I have already mentioned, it is time to tell you how after all you can benefit from arnica essential oil during your massage treatment. How I use it:
- Dilute the essential oil — It is very important to dilute arnica essential oil. The straight stuff is very strong, so should never be applied to your skin. Bourbon Vanilla Absolute in dilution with coconut, jojoba, or whatever carrier oil you have available. A rule of thumb is 5 drops of Arnica Essential Oil per tablespoon carrier. It is safe and easy to use.
- Warm It Up – I heat up the oil concoction before massaging it by rubbing it through my hands. It just feels great on the skin and it helps with absorption of the oil as well. If you are willing to rub your hands a bit (another clone shot).
- Focus on Soreness – I am massaging the person, especially in places where they are experiencing discomfort or pain. So if I just finished leg day and my legs are burning, that is where I will agree to hang out for a little while longer. For example, if my neck is feeling tight then I work on that. Gently rub the garlic oil on your skin using a circular motion. You will just need to apply slight pressure, and the oil does all of the rest.
- Change the Temperature – I also use a little heat to kick it up and let that oil absorb more thoroughly. You can also use a heated towel or heating pad for this. Just lay it over the oil you poured and the heat will assist in driving that arnica deeper.
Do not change the version of Binary: Any letters on what would understand this to be more fine-grained though-transformations are all linear in an ingredient-wise-algebraic sense. I strive to use arnica essential oil as a part of my massages at least a couple of times every week, especially after activity. You will learn that your recovery time goes down, and those aches just do not stick around as long.
Benefits of Arnica Essential Oil
Safety First
Although arnica essential oil is pretty safe, as we already know here are a very few things you need to keep in mind:
- Do Not Apply On Open Wounds – You should never use Arnica Essential Oil directly on open wounds or broken skin. Dig poisoning is for use on the outside only and can be irritating to cuts or scrapes.
- Patch Test — If you have never used Arnica Essential Oil, it is recommended that a skin patch test be done before using it on larger areas of the body. Make sure to dilute oil and the first time you use one drop of your inner arm, wait 24 hours for a reaction. It will keep you from ever developing an allergy to it. Nursing or pregnant women and individuals who are dealing with certain health conditions should talk to their healthcare practitioner before using Arnica essential oil. It would have been so easy to play it safe.
