Essential oils may work their magic directly through your nose or upon topical application, interacting with systems of the body. They are plant extractions containing natural compounds that help in soothing the human body and modifying the blood circulation of the body. They act upon the nervous system, stimulating it to help get rid of nausea, dizziness, and lightheadedness.
Along the way, I have found that at times when I feel a dizzy spell coming on, just a whiff of some calming essential oil will reset me and I am focused and balanced. You can also try using essential oils often to try and help with managing most of your triggers for dizziness and fainting.
Now, let’s come to the best oils in these situations.
- Peppermint Oil
Peppermint oil is, due to many reasons, a favorite, but among those, it helps with dizziness. It has been cool and very relieving to some extent instantly while one feels dizzy. This, in turn, stimulates blood flow and helps your body get the necessary oxygen to keep your ground. I just love to carry a small bottle of peppermint oil because I need a boost at any time.
Just inhale it by adding a drop or two to a tissue, or you can rub a diluted mixture on your temples and the back of your neck. You’ll feel its effects quickly.
- Lavender oil
Lavender oil is renowned for its calming properties and, therefore, very applicable in those conditions where vertigo happens due to anxiety or stress. When an overwhelming moment causes your feelings of fainting, then lavender can help in soothing your nerves and bringing a wave of relaxation to your body.
I like to add a few drops to a diffuser or mix it into a calming bath after a long stressful day. The scent alone well works to melt away tension and help one feel more in control.
- Oil of Ginger
Another potent oil that one can attempt to prevent fainting and relieve dizziness is ginger oil. It works a miracle when you feel nauseated or dizzy because of some sort of motion sickness or because of some problem within your stomach. Being a warming essential oil, it stimulates circulation; hence, it is a wonderful pick at times when one has become ungrounded.
I once remember taking ginger oil on a long car ride when my tummy started to feel queasy. A couple drops on a tissue to inhale and I was feeling much better. The bottom line is that it’s one of those oils you will want to have on hand.
- Eucalyptus Oil
Some dizziness, especially related to respiratory issues, might be benefited from eucalyptus oil since it opens up one’s airway passages and allows more oxygen to ascend to the brain. It is very useful when you feel faint because there is not enough fresh air around you.
Try diffusing it in a room or mixing with a carrier oil, rubbing on your chest; it not only comforts dizziness but also keeps breathing smooth and deep.
- Essential Rosemary Oil
Rosemary oil is another fabulous option that can help a person get their circulation flowing. If blood flow isn’t reaching properly, rosemary oil will help get things going and rid someone of dizzy spells. It’s stimulating, lifting-just perfect when one feels he or she is about to pass out.
I find rosemary oil works amazing for the morning, toning up one’s day to be taken a notch higher. Whether added to a diffuser or rubbed into the skin with a carrier oil, it is always fresh.
- Frankincense Oil
Frankincense oil has been in use for centuries for grounding. Smelling it relaxes the body and mind, just what is needed when one may feel like passing out at any moment. If dizziness in your case mostly appears due to anxiety or stress, frankincense would work just fine; it really helps to breathe deep and relax properly.
I like to combine frankincense with lavender in my diffuser whenever I am most anxious or out of balance. It’s an excellent blend for both emotional and physical stability.
- Lemon Oil
Invigorating and refreshing, lemon oil is one of the finest oils to help overcome dizziness. It has a bright, citrusy smell that opens your mind and literally snaps you out of it when you are about to feel woozy. Lemon oil also advances blood circulation, which is necessary when dealing with fainting spells.
I love taking a drop or two of lemon oil in a glass of water for a refreshing drink, or when the mood takes me, I inhale it straight from the bottle if I feel I need an instantaneous pick-me-up.
